La ausencia del presidente nicaragüense Daniel Ortega en actos públicos desató rumores sobre su salud, sin que nadie oficialmente desmintiera las versiones, reporta AP.

Ortega, un exguerrillero de 68 años de edad que asumió por primera vez la Presidencia luego de derrocar por la vía de las armas a la dictadura de la familia Somoza en julio de 1979, no aparece en público desde el pasado 21 de febrero.

El cubano Gustavo Andújar ha sido elegido nuevo presidente de SIGNIS, la Asociación Católica Mundial para la Comunicación.

Esta es la primera vez que SIGNIS cuenta con un presidente latinoamericano, informó en Roma el Pontificio Consejo para las Comunicaciones Sociales. Frank Frost, de Estados Unidos, y Lawrence John Sinniah, de Malasia, fueron elegidos vicepresidentes.

Andújar, que se desempeñaba como vicepresidente de la organización desde 2005, trabaja para la Arquidiócesis de La Habana.
